Chester Shell Obituary

Chester A. Shell CHESAPEAKE - On Aug. 31, 2009, Chester A. Shell, 66, of Chesapeake was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was a native of Arkansas born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Shell. He was our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Daddy will be remembered for his laughter, wonderful sense of humor and most of all, how he always was there to help anyone in need. He served 28 honorable years in the United States Navy. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Virginia Beach where he sang in the male choir. Left to cherish his memory are his five children from his first marriage to Gloria Shell: Valencia Alaby and husband Jacques, Carlotta McCaskill and husband Jimmie of California, Corrie Shell Williams of Georgia and former son-in-law Darrell of Virginia, Brian Shell and Phillip Shell of California; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his siblings: brother, James Shell and wife Jeffrie of Illinois and sisters, Irma Parker of Texas, Junie Murray and husband Gene of Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews. Daddy, grandpa, brother, uncle and dear friend, you will be missed and always remembered. We love you. Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. in Mount Bethel Baptist Church, 4636 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Hale Funeral Home is handling the final arrangements. www.halefuneralhome.com.
