Betty Crunk Obituary

Betty R. Crunk VIRGINIA BEACH - Betty Frances Riggs Crunk, 85, of Kirkwood Lane, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, John A. Crunk Jr. She was also predeceased by her stepson, John A. Crunk III. Mrs. Crunk was a native of Greenville, N.C., but called Virginia Beach home for more than 60 years. She was a retired bookkeeper for the YMCA of the Metropolitan Tidewater area. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She attended exercise classes at the Virginia Beach Recreation Center four days per week until nine months ago and enjoyed that fellowship. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Anne Ward and Wanda Kaplan of Virginia Beach and Gail Horne of Morehead City, N.C., and one son, Barry Crunk, also of Virginia Beach. She had 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Jean Hedrick of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mildred Haddock of Grimesland, N.C. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Rosewood Memorial Park with Chaplain Chris Fosback officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. The family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Sentara Hospice or the charity of choice. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
