Ruby Castellow Obituary

Ruby L. Castellow FRANKLIN - Ruby Nora Lee Castellow, 99, widow of Basil Broadnax Castellow, died Sept. 15, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Eunice Brown and Ernest C. Lee and was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Morris. Mrs. Castellow was a graduate of Meredith College and a teacher for 34 years, most recently in Conway, N.C. and Franklin. She was a member of High Street Seniors where she often participated in activities involving needlework and crafts. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Faithful Servants Sunday School Class. Survivors include her daughter, Eunice C. Vick and husband Jesse (Bill) of Courtland; four grandchildren, Cynthia Choate and husband Richard, Ann Magee and husband Kevin, David Vick, and John Vick and wife Ann; seven great-grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Choate, Tiffany Vick, Meghan and Macy Magee and Justin and Kristen Vick; a sister, Alice Evans of Greenville, N.C.; and two brothers, Ernest Lee Jr. of Colerain, N.C., and Earl Lee of Richmond; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon James officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to the Castellow Scholarship Fund of Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High St., Franklin, VA 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
