Ethel Ferris Obituary

Ethel M. Ferris NORFOLK - Ethel was born Dec. 10, 1925, and passed away Sept. 17, 2009. Growing up she was nicknamed "Runt" as being the youngest of three sisters and one brother. Ethel loved to play bingo and chat on the phone. She grew up in the hills of Hazard and Bulan, Ky. As a young woman, she and her two sisters traveled to Roanoke, Va., and started their adult lives there. She met and married her husband, Ken and have one daughter, Kathy D. Faries. Ethel resided in Norfolk with her daughter after the passing of Ken. Remaining living relatives are Claranell Herald, Paula Beverly, Sheila Caudill, DC, Darrell and Grady Williams and their children from Bulan, Ky. Living with Kathy, who took care of "Miss Ethel" as they called her, were her fiancé, Artie Young and his children Robert, Christy, Scrap and Mike Young. The family wants to let everyone know how much they meant to her and the little things they did for her that meant so much to her. Also to Teresa Jones who for several years cared for her on a daily basis and helped Kathy through the rough times and helped her keep her home together. A special thanks to all the ladies at Personal Touch Home Health Care Service for their care also: Cynthia Johnson, Samantha Rosado, Nannette Boone and Belva Jones Edney. A funeral will be conducted today at 7 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
