Elizabeth Parsons Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Parsons PORTSMOUTH - On Sept. 20, 2009, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Parsons, 80, lost her battle with cancer while she was surrounded by her family. Betty is survived by her husband of almost 51 years of marriage, John. She is also survived by her five children, Nancy Wilson of Middletown, Md., Betsy Parsons of Portsmouth, Jack Parsons and wife Debbie of Chesapeake, Susie Knotts and husband Don of Portsmouth, Sharon Stuhmer and husband Pat of Virginia Beach; her nine grandchildren, Holly, Austin, Kristin, Lexi, Kyle, Evan, Sarah, David and Robert; her brothers, Lee Ireland and wife Judy of North Syracuse, N.Y., and Jack Ireland of Williamstown, N.J.; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. There will be a celebration of her life held Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. in Centenary United Methodist Church on Cedar Lane, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church in Betty's memory.
