Sarah Singleton Obituary

Sarah M. Singleton SUFFOLK - Sarah M. Singleton passed away from this eternal life with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, after suffering a long battle with Alzheimer's. Sarah was 83 years of age, and she lived in Indiana for the past few years. Sarah was the widow of the late Jack C. Singleton. She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Pennington of Georgetown, Ind., and Sharon Mitchell and her husband Bill of English, Ind. She is also survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Ian and Cristie Mitchell and Nia and Nate Manship, all from Indiana and a great- grandchild, Heidi Mitchell. Sarah leaves to cherish her memory as well a sister, Janice Branch and two brothers, Cliff and Johnny Branch, all of Suffolk; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. Sarah was a bookkeeper with Colonial Stores and retired after 21 years of service. She was an avid supporter of the Tidewater Gospel Music Association and loved this music with all her heart. Memorial donations may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice Vista Care of Jeffersonville, Ind. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at New Temple Grove Ministries, 3972 South Military Hwy., Chesapeake, VA 23321 by the Revs. Johnny and Connie MacDonald. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery, Virginia Beach. There will be a celebration of Sarah's life following the burial at New Temple Grove Ministries. Visitation will take place Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church. Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, is serving the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Even though we know where "Aunt Mert" is it is always so hard to let go. Can't you just imagine the Heavenly Gospel Music she is listening to this day. I can see that smile on her face and those clapping of hands. May her memories be those of happy times.
