Eugene DeWitt Mills Jr. MADISON HEIGHTS - Eugene DeWitt Mills Jr., 83, died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at his residence. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Chiquita Wright Mills for 58 years. He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters and their families, Donna Dickerson Fuglaar and husband William of Norfolk, Jacqueline Mills Earnhardt and husband Joe of Carolina Shores, N.C., Ellen Mills Shull and husband Brian of Durham, N.C., Jane Elizabeth Mills and Peter Samoville of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Amy Lacy Floyd and husband Michael and Benjamin Mills Fuglaar; a great-grandson, Andrew Blake Floyd; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and attended Madison Heights Baptist Church. He was a member of Marshall Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M. for more than 50 years, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and past president of the Lynchburg Shrine Club. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by the Rev. John D. Ragland with Masonic Rites. Burial will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors rendered by American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 2, at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg.
