Helen Sloan Obituary

Helen D. Sloan PORTSMOUTH - Helen Deloris Sloan, 87, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009. She was a native of Florence, S.C., and was the daughter of the late Carey and Edna Parker. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and was predeceased by her husband, Bobby G. Sloan. She is survived by her two daughters, Delores Terry Marsh of Portsmouth and Mary Simpson and husband Gene of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Tommy Marsh and wife Drema, Rosonna Murray and husband Andy, Gilbert Lopez and wife Sandra, Todd Marsh and Kristen DePue and husband Robbie; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum by the Rev. David W. Cupps. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bon Secours Hospice. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Bon Secours Hospice, Golden Living Center and the nursing staff at Maryview Hospital on 2nd floor south. www. SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
