Tempie Flagg Obituary

Tempie Elizabeth Flagg PORTSMOUTH - Tempie Elizabeth Flagg, 99, of the 900 block of Suburban Parkway, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009. She was born April 10, 1910 to the late Nat and Evie Ransom in Gumberry, N.C. Tempie moved to Portsmouth with her husband, the late James E. Flagg, in 1952 where she worked for many years caring for children. She worked for Red and Frances Lawrence when their son, Gary, was 14 years old. She had been with Gary ever since. Tempie was a member of Fourth Baptist Church where she sang in the gospel choir and was a member of the Cora B. Scott Club. She is survived by one sister, Esther Williams of Philadelphia; four nephews, Glen, Franklin, Dennis and John Tabron, all of Portsmouth. Ms. Flagg was predeceased by her only child, Wilson Ransom. Viewing was held Monday, Oct. 12, from 2 until 7 p.m. in J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, with the family present from 6 until 7 p.m. A life celebration service will be held today, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Charles W. Beamon presiding. Interment will be at Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. The Lawrence family would like to express a sincere thank you to Carrington Place of Chesapeake for the care provided to their loved one. The family has entrusted J.T.
