Bernie Taylor Obituary

Bernie L. Taylor NORFOLK - Bernie L. Taylor, 78, of the 600 block of North Shore Road, died Oct. 10, 2009. Born in Parksley, Va., he was the son of the late Bernie Taylor Sr. and Marie T. Taylor. Bernie attended Norfolk Academy and then joined the U.S. Army. After the Army, he joined ILA Local 1624 where he worked for 35 years. He was a past commodore of the Tidewater Boat Club. Bernie was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Marie Lenoir. Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Irene Taylor; three daughters, Karen Spencer and her husband Mike, Sharon Culbertson and her husband Billy and Cindy Tomlinson and her husband Gary; three grandchildren, Kate Mouak, Anne Culbertson, Rachel Tomlinson; and a great-grandson, Adam Mouak. He is also survived by his dog, "Lady." A graveside service will be conducted at noon today, Oct. 13, in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk by the Rev. Dr. John R. Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tidewater Boat Club Pier Project, 798 W. 45th St., Norfolk, VA 23508. Online condolences may sent to the family at www.hdoliver.com.
