George Edwards

George R. Edwards VIRGINIA BEACH - George Russell Edwards, 90, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at a local hospital. Mr. Edwards was retired from the U.S. Navy where he was a veteran of World War II. He was also retired from the United States Post Office. He was a member of Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church. Mr. Edwards was predeceased by his wife, Selma V. Edwards and is survived by two daughters, Connie King and husband Michael, Cheryl Papineau and husband Jim, all of Virginia Beach; a son, Michael Edwards of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Edith Lassiter, Jewel Hosey and Frances Brady, all of Mississippi; seven grandchildren and one great-grand- child. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Tyra L. and Gerald Newell. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Hollomon-Brown funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
