Mary Vorhees Obituary

Mary Rose Vorhees NORFOLK - Mary Rose Vorhees, 78, passed away Oct. 11, 2009, in Norfolk. She was born in Greensburg, Ind., and was a loving Navy wife raising her children while her husband spent time at sea. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Anderson Vorhees Sr.; three children, Robert Lee Vorhees and wife Ruth Ann of Moyock, N.C., Dolly Ann McHurien and husband Dale of San Jacinto, Calif., John A. "Skip" Vorhees Jr. of Norfolk; sister, Bessie Marie Vorhees of Muncie, Ind.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Kenny Bryant. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hollomon- brown.com.
