Women in sports. Every time I watch a WNBA game or women's college basketball and fast pitch softball. I always think about Sis running the boys off the basketball court at Beazley so the girls could play. That was in late 50's and early 60's. Now look at how good the girls are!! Sis was truly a pioneer in Women's sports. She was also a wonderful person.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Sis. she was so special to so many of us Beazley Boppers. I would see her out from time to time & she was always so pleasant. Who knows where a lot of us would have been if it hadn't been for Sis. She was always a fair & just person. Even though, she was a cousin, she wouldn't hesitate to expel us when we broke the rules at the center. Boy I had that happen a couple of times. Ha Ha. It was always a pleasure to stop & talk to her. My condolences go to Billy, Anne, Bunky & all the family. May God be with you all during this time.

Please accept our deepest sympathy. I had Sis for kindergarden and she was the best. My brothers and I lived at Beazley Center and one even worked there. She was always so wonderful with all the kids. We will miss her. The memories will be in my heart forever. Our prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.
Sincerely,

Please accept our sympathy in the loss of Sis Spence. She was always a great help to Mrs. Jernigan and was talked about often. We are traveling, but certainly will be thinking of you all.
Sincerely,

Sis was the ultimate "step mother" to all the kids that entered the Beazley. She was kind, understanding, strict, and loving and she took care of each and every one of us. Our prayers are with you and your family and we thank you for sharing your Mom with us.

Ms. Spence was the "grandmother" of our neighborhood. She loved all the children and families as if they were her very own, as we loved her as if she was family. We will all miss your presence and wish you the best in heaven.

Our world, as children, was a better place because of Sis Spence and her late husband, Corky. She ran the Beazley Center with the highest of standards: standards she instilled, demonstrated, and demanded of the youths who entered. "IT'S NOT WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE, BUT HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME" was a belief she applied to all life experiences.
We are honoured and blessed to have been under her guidance throughout our childhood years.
Our love and gratitude cannot be measured.
