James Williams Obituary

James S. Williams NORFOLK - James S. Williams, 59, formerly of Norfolk, passed away Oct. 15, 2009, at a local hospital. A Norfolk native, Mr. Williams retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer after more than 20 years of service. He was a longtime member of Faith Is The Victory Church in Nashville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry R. Williams and a brother, Robert F. Williams. Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Judy L. Williams of Madison, Tenn.; his mother, Kathryn Recine of Virginia Beach; five children, Kelly Williams Bergman of Virginia Beach, James S. Williams and wife Jeri of Emerald Isle, N.C., Michael S. Williams and his girlfriend Debi Lichtenberger of Summerville, S.C., Jamie L. Wilkinson and wife Bridgette, Shannon Nicole Arthur and husband Brad, all of Hendersonville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Caton L. Bergman, Trenton and Riley Arthur and Austin Wilkinson; three sisters, Harriet Phillips of Houston, Texas, Marion Holley and husband Calvin of Sargent, Texas, Janet Musselwhite and husband William of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Roger A. Williams and wife Kimberly of Norfolk and John Recine of Virginia Beach; loving mother- in-law, Martha Pharris; his best friend, Clifford "Turk" Cottrell; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. He will be interred in Nashville, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. John's Baptist Church, 2300 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23453. Friends may send tributes to www. mem.com.
