Mary Butler Obituary

Mary G. Butler PORTSMOUTH - Mary G. Butler, 93, a longtime resident of Portsmouth, passed away Oct. 18, 2009, at Churchland House where she resided for the past two years. She was retired from Starband Co. Inc. and was a 50-year member of the Portsmouth Temple No. 4 of the Pythian Sisters. She was a charter member of Lee Memorial Baptist Church. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Allen J. Butler; a son, Allen J. Butler Jr.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Hunt; two brothers, W.L. Gothard and A.Z. Gothard; along with two sisters, Jean Christy and Edna Whittle. She was also predeceased by her parents, Mr. EB Gothard and Mrs. EB Gothard of 810 Lewis St. Mary is survived by her children, Richard E. Hunt and wife Linda, Charlotte Harrell and Jerlean Ramsey and husband Allen, all of Chesapeake, Walter R. Hunt of Portsmouth; along with one brother, Edwin L. Gothard of Summerville S.C.; six grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Loving Funeral Home by Dr. Ray O. Jones with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 6 to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www. lovingfuneralhome.com.

Jerlean,
We had some fun times and lots of laughter with Aunt Mary both as kids and adults(?). Just be sure and remember all those times. She will always be with you. May God bless you and your family.
