Philip Floyd Obituary

Philip E. Floyd Sr. NORFOLK - Philip Earl Floyd Sr., 58, died Oct. 22, 2009. He was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., and was the son of Oma Lee Smith Floyd of Chesapeake and the late W.R. "Doc" Floyd Sr. Philip was retired from Pax River Base as an aircraft sheetmetal mechanic and was employed at NADEP in Norfolk for 19 years. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his mother, Philip is survived by his wife, Anna Lou Stegall Floyd; a son, Philip E. Floyd Jr. of Norfolk; three brothers, Willis R. Floyd Jr. of Chesapeake, Robert L. Floyd of Norfolk, and Michael Floyd of Clarksville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Donald Traylor. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
