Caleb Wilson Obituary

Caleb B. Wilson Jr. CHESAPEAKE - Caleb B. Wilson Jr., 87, died Oct. 22, 2009, in Chesapeake. He was born in Camden County, North Carolina, but was a lifelong resident of the City of Chesapeake. He was the son of the late Caleb B. and Mamie Evans Wilson. He was predeceased in death by his brother, Edward Wilson, and his sisters, Mildred Sorey and Shirley Rhodes, all of Chesapeake. He was a graduate of the 1935 class of Great Bridge High School. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was based in Hawaii where he participated in the Pacific Theatre on the islands of Saipan and Tinian. Upon returning home from his years of service, he entered the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice Program and continued his employment with the Shipyard until he retired in 1979. He was a charter member of the Great Bridge Ruritan Club and remained an active member until July 2009. He was a member of the Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Nellie B. Wilson of Chesapeake; his two daughters, Joan W. Tebo and her husband Chet of Virginia Beach, Pamela W. Evans and her husband Adam of Chesapeake; his grandson, Bennie L. (Trey) Williams III of Chesapeake; and his sister, Lucille Schucker of Chesapeake. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Danny Kesner and the Rev. Tom Mercer will officiate. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin today with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
