David Frederick Obituary

David D. Frederick VIRGINIA BEACH - David Danner Frederick, born Sept. 12, 1946, passed away peacefully at his home in Virginia Beach Oct. 18, 2009. After a 15-year struggle with the effects of cancer and chemotherapy, he is at rest. David was the son of the late Richard and Dolores Frederick. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Freehold, N.J. David was a proud Vietnam veteran. He graduated from Old Dominion University and earned his master's degree in psychology from Norfolk State University. He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Frederick; his children, Jacqueline Dolores Frederick and Scott Walter Frederick of Virginia Beach; his sister, Diane Frederick Fitzgerald of Chestertown, Md.; his niece, Pamela Fitzgerald of Alexandria, Va.; his nephew, Robert Frederick Fitzgerald and wife Elizabeth and their daughter, Vivian Lane Fitzgerald of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Karen and brother-in-law Larry Stein; and nephews, Christopher and John of Aiken, S.C. His dear aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends hold him in their hearts. David's lifelong devoted pals - and you know who you are - honor his memory and celebrate their friendship. David will be remembered for how he lived and how he gently touched so many people. During all these years he continued to help others, volunteering at homeless shelters, lecturing at various support groups, extending his hand to those in need. His kindness, ever present positive attitude, compassion for all, and peace loving attitude was a gift he gave everyone, everyday. His essence will be greatly missed by us all. Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads Inc., 900 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23504. Condolences may be offered to the family at vbfred1@yahoo. com.
