Joyce Faircloth Obituary

Joyce O. Faircloth CHESAPEAKE - Joyce O. Faircloth, 71, of the 2400 block of Strawberry Lane, passed away Oct. 23, 2009. She was born March 24, 1938, to the late Georgia Mae and James Owens in Norfolk County. She was a 1957 graduate of Crestwood High School and a member of NNCW. She was predeceased by her husband, James Faircloth Sr. Joyce was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake, where she served as a Pastor's aide and on Usher Board No. 1. She retired as a certified nurses assistant from Autumn Care Nursing Home after 34 years of service. She is survived by one daughter, Jocelyn Faircloth-Boone (Gregory); two sons, James Faircloth Jr. (Edna), Jeffrey Faircloth (Antoinette); one sister, Anne Scott; five brothers, David Owens, Alvin Owens (Polly), Roland Owens, Willie Owens, Joseph Owens (Carolyn) and Timothy Owens; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1608 Liberty St. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 3316 Bruin Drive, Chesapeake, one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Chapel, is in charge.
