Gladys Smith Obituary

Gladys Smith VIRGINIA BEACH - Gladys "Nana" Smith, 80, went to be with the Lord and joined her husband in Heaven Oct. 31, 2009. She was born July 28, 1929 in Norfolk, the daughter of the late Claude C. and Dorothy A. Hunt. Gladys was a very caring person - giving of herself freely not only to her family but to everyone who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, William C. Smith Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children, William "Chuck" Smith III and Jody Smith-Dunn and husband Buck, all of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Stacy Argabright and husband David, William C. Smith IV and wife Christina, Holly M. Warner and husband James, Chad A. Dunn and Tyler A. Dunn; great-grandson, D.J. Argabright; sister, Beverly J. Cowan; and brothers, Gary W. Rafter, Claude Clayton Hunt and Robert Hunt. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, Gladys strongly requested memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513 in her name. Chuck, We just heard about the passing of your mother. We are so sorry. The few times I spent time with her, she was a real sweet person. She will be missed. If there is any thing we can do, let us know.
