Thomas Barrett Obituary

Thomas Ernest Barrett CHESAPEAKE - Thomas Ernest Barrett, 67, of the 2800 block of Covey Court, passed away Nov. 3, 2009, in his home. A native of Sylva, N.C., he was the son of the late Elmer and Pearl Chastain Barrett and the widower of Helen R. Barrett. He retired from NORSHIPCO as a pipe fitter. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon A. Sturges and her husband Tulsa of Chesapeake; his son, Ronald Rhoton of Lake Worth, Fla.; three sisters, Nancy Roughton of Suwannee, Ga., Susie Johnson of Burlington, N.C., and Jane Weaver of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Harold Barrett of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren, Paul Elliott Jr., Jennifer VanDyne, Ronald Rhoton Jr., Jimmy Bragg, Debbie Allen, Lori Lynn Carter, Jason Rhoton, Elizabeth Holt, Sissy Rhoton and Mary Sturges; and 11 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon- brown.com.

Worked with Tommy at the shipyard years ago.What a fine person. I have missed him through the years and I know that he will be missed by all.
