Millie Jones Obituary

Millie Cora C. Jones PORTSMOUTH - Millie Cora Chaney Jones, 71, of the 4000 block of Long Pointe Blvd., transitioned from this life Oct. 31, 2009. She was born in Warrenton, N.C. Millie was a San Diego Transit driver for many years. She was a member of Believe in God Ministries where she was a church mother and a deaconess at Mount Olive Church of God and Christ, San Diego. Millie was also a member of the "Diva" Club. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Annie Ruth Ward (Roy), Nikena Leason, Phyllis Roebuck (Robert) and Twana White (Michael); two sons, George Allen Jr. and Walter Robinson; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gussie Hunter (William) and Addie Barnes; stepsisters, Mary Agnew (Nathanial) and the Rev. Geraldine Edwards; her brother, William Robinson (Christine); stepbrother, Arthur Newell Jr.; a special daughter, devoted niece and caretaker, Delphine White (Carl); and and a host other nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, James Jones; her parents, John Robinson and Effie Dail Robinson- Newell; her stepfather, Arthur Newell Sr.; and her siblings, Lena Phillips, Ernest Robinson and Cornelous Robinson. A funeral will be held Friday at noon in First Baptist Church Taylorsville, 2720 Turnpike Road, Portsmouth. The Rev. James E. Wynn will be officiating and Pastor Michael A. White will be the eulogist. Steele-Bullock Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Viewing will be private. Family and friends will assemble at 4029 Ahoy Drive, Chesapeake, at 11 a.m. for the procession to the church.
