Nellie Damron Obituary

Nellie Virginia Damron NORFOLK - Mrs. Nellie Virginia Damron passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family Nov. 6, 2009, in the comfort of her home at the age of 88. Nellie will be greatly missed by her family and friends who she touched so greatly with her love and compassion. She was born Aug. 25, 1921 in Hartsville, S.C., to the late Linnie David Hudson Sr. and Rosa P. Hudson. She was predeceased by husbands, Bernie M. Simmons, Jack C. Lund and William G. Damron; brother, L.D. Hudson Jr.; sister-in-law, Margaret Hudson; and sister, Marjorie Fleming. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Simmons Birge and Brenda J. Stafford (John); stepdaughters, Mary Birchner (Gene), Kathryn Hewitt (Tom); grandchildren, Lauri Bliss (Mike), Lisa Law (Robert), Kimberly LoPrete (Mike), Melinda Stafford, Trey Stafford and Linette Bearfoot; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bliss, Kaylan Kwiatkowski, Joshua Kwiatkowski, Samantha Stafford, Colin Lynch, Taylor Lynn Bearfoot; great-great-grandson, Kamron Kwiatkowski; brothers, Ernest Hudson (Phyllis), Robert Hudson (Patricia), Mickey Hudson and Tony Hudson (Patricia); sisters, Rose Tipton, Jan Tipton and Catherine Frazier (James); and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Damron was retired from Ying's Chinese Restaurant after 22 years of service. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Azalea Garden Church of God and the Young at Hearts at her church. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sentara Hospice. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. Services will take place today, Nov. 7, at Woodlawn Funeral Home with a visitation at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. The interment will be immediately after the service with a reception to follow at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
