Lorine Smith

Lorine I. Smith VIRGINIA BEACH - Lorine Isabel Smith, 83, went to be with the Lord Nov. 10, 2009. She was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Bertie County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late George and Nettie Newbern. Lorine was a devout Christian and was a faithful member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church for more than 40 years and taught the Gifted Sunday school class for more than 20 years. Lorine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, George Albert Smith and grandson, Jerry W. Smith II. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patricia Diane Smith-Lewis and husband Ace, Ronald Curtis Smith and Jerry Wayne Smith and wife Sharon; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Thelma Bray. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach by Pastor Prentis McGoldrick. Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, 4392 Virginia Beach Blvd., VA 23462 in Lorine's name.
