Mary Whitehurst Obituary

Mary V. Whitehurst NORFOLK - Mary V. Whitehurst, 91, of the 300 block of S. Main St., departed this life Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at her residence. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd E. Whitehurst Sr. and two sons, Floyd Jr. and Lennell. Mary worked for the High's Ice Cream Company and retired from the Norfolk Public School system. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Wilton Whitehurst (Mamie) of Hartsville, S.C., Patricia Jones (Raymond) of Portsmouth, Yvonne Elliott and Mae Whitehurst, both of Norfolk; a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 525 Dinwiddie St. Interment will be at New Sawyers Creek Church Cemetery, Camden, N.C. Family and friends will assemble at the residence one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Chapel, is in charge. Dearest Wilton(Mamie), Yvonne, Pat(Butch) and Mae,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of bereavement. May your fond memories of your mother bring you comfort, peace and hope.
Cousin Verneice was such a sweet and gentle follower of Christ. May she forever rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. She is now reunited with her soulmate, Cousin Floyd.
God bless you and strengthen you as you face the difficult days ahead.
