Mecie Byrum

Mecie E. Byrum CORAPEAKE - Mecie Eure Byrum, 90, of the 700 block of Middle Swamp Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, in Down East Health & Rehab, Gatesville. Mrs. Byrum was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Linda Arlene Eure. A homemaker, she was a member of Middle Swamp Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll W. Byrum. Surviving are a son, Billy Byrum and wife Linda of Sunbury; two sisters, Linda "Sugar" Eure and Lillian Taylor, both of Eure; two grandsons, Robert Byrum and Richard Byrum; and one great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Middle Swamp Baptist Church by the Rev. Burt Pearce. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the home of her son, 114 NC 32 North, Sunbury.
