Albert Hale Obituary

Albert C. Hale HAMPTON - Retired U.S. Army Col. Albert C. Hale died Nov. 16, 2009. He was born in Aulander, N.C., to Ernest and Cora Hale and was a resident of the Peninsula since 1966. His last duty assignment was with the Continental Army Command, Fort Monroe, Va. His Army service included U.S. Army European Theater of Operations during World War II, with subsequent assignments overseas in Japan, Korea, Alaska and the Caribbean Islands. He was twice awarded the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal. He is survived by a son, Brent C. Hale (Judy) of Hampton and two grandsons, Brent C. Hale Jr. (Gail) of Greenback, Tenn., and David C. Hale (Rachel) of Virginia Beach; three great-grandchildren, Logan Hale, Megan Hudson, and Lillian Hale. He is also survived by a sister, Annie Ruth White, and three brothers, James E. Hale, Ernest B. Hale and Dana Hale. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wythe Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 9413, Hampton, VA 23670 or the Connaritsa Baptist Church, 2016 NC 305 Hwy., Aulander, NC 27805, where he was a member. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton, by retired U.S. Air Force Col. Martha L. Davis and the Rev. Rita A. Callis with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. David Chang and the staff of Virginia Oncology and the Veteran's Hospital Palliative Care staff for all their care and loving support they provided.

My husband and I were neighbors of Colonel Hale and were saddened to hear of his passing. His presence in the neighborhood will be dearly missed. Our thought and prayers go out to the family

We are saddened to learn of Col. Hale's departure from this earthly life, but feel fully assured heaven is the richer today, because he is there.
Col Hale was truly an outstanding office and a gentlemen, and a true friend.

Our hearts go out to Colonel Hale's family. He was one of the nicest, kindest men we have ever met. We bought the Colonel's Lady from him years ago and took great pride in the boat. He was a wonderful person and We know he will be greatly missed.
