Phin Horton Obituary

Phin Horton PORTSMOUTH - Phin Horton, 77, city manager of Portsmouth, from 1974 to 1975, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at his home in Linville Land Harbor, N.C. Celebrations of Phin's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Faith Alliance Church, 1309 Umstead Road, Durham, N.C., and at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Aaron Baptist Church, 280 Old Hwy. 181, Montezuma, N.C. Memorials may be made to Aaron Baptist Church, P.O. Box 266, Montezuma, NC 28653.

I hope the family may remember me- I was Jane Van SLeen and my dad was Bob Van SLeen, Utilities Director in Shelby for many years.I remember Phin and Bunny being neighbors of ours in Shelby and Phin and my dad being friends. I am sorry to hear of his death and send my condolences to the family.
