Arnold Allison Obituary

Arnold Wiley Allison VIRGINIA BEACH - Retired Naval Cmdr. Arnold Wiley "Pete" Allison, 80, passed away Oct. 24, 2009, at a local hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Monique Lysette Leon Beranger Allison. Cmdr. Allison was born Dec. 10, 1928 to the late Loui and Elsie Allison of Meridian, Mississippi. He was predeceased by his loving sisters, Louie, Peggy, and Nan. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Eric Wiley Allison and David Lee Allison and his wife Vonnie Jo; sister-in-law, Odiele Bouyala and husband Jean Marie; brother-in-law, Bruno Beranger and wife Beatrice of Marsielle, France; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cmdr. Allison spent his life serving his country in the United States Navy, mostly abroad, before retiring as a commander in July 1979. He graduated from Meridan High School in 1946. He attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and found a home for life. He was truly proud and dedicated to serving his county and did so for 27 years. He was equally dedicated to his wife and children. Anyone who knew "Pete," knew him as a friendly, outgoing person, who always had a joke or a navy story to share. The commander and his wife felt blessed and helped those in need and supported many charities. They were a generous couple who loved each other dearly. Their family and friends can find comfort knowing that they are together again in heaven as loving husband and wife. Their devotion and love for each other and those they have left behind is eternal. The family will be celebrating Pete's life in a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
