Robert Gibbons Obituary

Robert E. Gibbons PORTSMOUTH - Robert Edward "Bob" Gibbons, 66, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009. He was a native of Guy, Ark., and was the son of the late R.L. and Lillian Gibbons. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a planner. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Garnett Gibbons; two daughters, Robin Flanagan and husband Kirk and Suzann Walsh and husband Dwight; four sisters, Marie Clifton and husband Cecil, Dale Calloway, Willie House and Ann Gibbons; a brother, Paul Gibbons all of Arkansas; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Grove Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

He was my big brother and we always called him "Bobby". Even though we didn't always agree on things, I always looked up to him. I leave his family this message he wrote to me ... "Have a good day for today and have a good tomorrow for tomorrow is a new day and a new light." I will always love him.
