Maggie Owens Obituary

Maggie A. Owens VIRGINIA BEACH - Maggie Arvilla Owens, 92, passed away Nov. 18, 2009, in Midlothian, Va. She was a devoted member of the Norfolk Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as their treasurer for 28 years. On Oct. 24, she was thrilled to be able to attend her 75th class reunion at Dr. Griggs/Poplar Branch High School. Mrs. Owens is survived by three daughters, Barbara Gormley of Midlothian, Va., Betty Jo Williams of Gainesville, Ga., Angela Thomas of Moneta, Va.; and one son, Milton Douglas Owens of Virginia Beach. In addition to her children, she had seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Owens was predeceased by her husband, Milton Owens. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake. A graveside service will be Sunday, Nov. 22, at 1:30 p.m. in Powells Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Powells Point, N.C. A buffet gathering will be held after the service at "The Pointe Golf Course" in Powells Point. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
