Paul Taylor Obituary

Paul R. Taylor VIRGINIA BEACH - Paul Russell Taylor, 63, loving father of Mason Louis Taylor, and former husband of Mimi Taylor, passed away Nov. 20, 2009. Paul will always be remembered as a wonderful father to his only child, Mason, and will continue to live in all of our hearts with love. His humor and wit, and his profound commitment to his family and friends were the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind the following family: his loving partner, Robin Keeney; brother, Harold E. Taylor Jr.; Marjorie Taylor, wife of his late father Harold E. Taylor Sr.; sister, Nancy Taylor Minguez, along with her children, Matthew and his daughter Scarlett Grace, Meredith and Andrew, and their father Juan Minguez; brothers, Bruce Taylor and Bill Moore; first cousins, Jeanne White and family, Russell Corvese and family and Ricky Corvese. Paul joins his father, Harold E. Taylor Sr.; mother, Betty Moore; and his favorite aunts, Shirley Corvese and Dottie Robinson. A circle of family and friends will come together to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. His family will be in the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service for visitation. A private burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden's Avenue of Flags in Norfolk. As a veteran of the United States Air Force, he will be laid to rest in close proximity to his father, retired Major Harold E. Taylor Sr. His spirit will touch us every time we laugh; we will carry on the laughter as he would want it to be. Online condolences may be made through www.hdoliver. com.

Paul Taylor…my ex-colleague and friend. Frequent political advisory, visionary, omnipresent teller of the worst jokes in the world, all-pervading man of taste and design – whether you liked it or not… A man who rambled with the best of them…sometimes with profound insights, sometimes with crazy…always with heart….conversations ending in laughter – and pessimism. A man who loved his family dearly – and spoke of his love often and with emotion. A lover of style, lighting and design – A man who loved the Desert – San Francisco – and his families home on the East Coast. A man who could walk the hills of San Francisco with the best of them, show us arcane history and Tales of The City – yet have the most exciting moment – for him - be at the intersection of two streets –Mason & Taylor. The name of his son. THAT was the favorite moment for him, At Mason & Taylor.

My most heart-felt love and sympathy to Paul’s family and close loves – He leaves a vast empty space – his laughter will be greatly missed.
