Quintilla Harris Obituary

Quintilla Pitt Harris PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Quintilla Pitt Harris entered eternal rest Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, in Sentara Village Nursing Center, Chesapeake. Mrs. Harris, "Quinnie" as she was called, was born in Portsmouth Jan. 14, 1919 to Eugene and Quintilla Pitt. She was married Jan. 5, 1935 to the late U.S. Navy Chief Robert L. Harris. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sisters and a brother. She is survived by her son, Robert Eugene and daughter- in-law Joyce; four grandchildren, Robert II, Teressa, John and Ryan; nine great-grandchildren; a number of other relatives and caring friends. Mrs. Harris was a faithful member of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, where she served on the senior choir until her health and Chief's health failed. She was a member of Martha Chapter No. 10, Order Eastern Star (PHA) for more than 58 years. The family thanks the staff and residents of Sentara Village, Chesapeake, for their loving care and friendship. A homegoing service will be conducted at Third Baptist Church, Godwin Street, Portsmouth, Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph A. Fleming officiating. Family and friends will gather at the church at noon. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Corprew Funeral Home.

To the Harris Family,

I was sincerely sorry to here of the passing of Aunt Quintilla, for she was truly a VIRTUOUS WOMAN. She dearly loved Uncle Robert and her family. Aunt Quintilla, with her beautiful smile and gentle spirit, will be greatly missed. I pray that God's love will comfort you and that He will shower you with His peace during this difficult time.
