Kermitt Lawrence Sr.

Kermitt Lawrence Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Kermitt Maxwell Lawrence Sr., 67, of the 1000 block of Taft Road, died Nov. 25, 2009, at his home. A native of Beaufort, N.C., he was the son of the late Mack and Velma Lawrence and retired as a contract administrator with Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 42 years of service. After retirement he said, "I would have liked to do what I pleased! Say - fishing, gardening and machine work, but I didn't have a green thumb or opportunity like Daddy Mack, Granny and Pop, or Mimi. Maybe some of the things I would like to have experienced didn't occur! I would like to have been perfect - something that is not achievable (basically impossible.) There are no factors that can identify perfection. There is no such thing as perfect! However, perfection is that you do the best you can to achieve the goal! For all, tomorrow will be another day. And I'll be just fine regarding eternity for the remainder of time, as God chooses!" Surviving are his loving wife, Linda Fields Lawrence; a son, Kermitt Maxwell Lawrence Jr. and his children, Max and Seth; a daughter, Denise L. Clymer and her husband Steve "Meathead" and their children, Hannah, Preston and Greyson; a sister, Iva Dufore; a brother, Corbitt Lawrence; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Mercer and the Rev. Bob Pihlcrantz officiating. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
