Helen Smith Obituary

Helen Pearl Smith NORFOLK - On Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, a phenomenal woman answered God's call to board the train to glory. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace R. Smith. She was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church in Moyock, N.C., and later joined Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Norfolk. Left to celebrate her life are a loving daughter, Carolyn Barbara Smith Carter; two granddaughters, Linette and Lisa Carter; a sister, Gilda Bloomer of Virginia Beach; three sister-in-laws, Ruby Jones of Portsmouth, Mary Cowell and Evelyn White of Moyock; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends; and a special pal, Heidi. Viewing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Metropolitan Funeral Services Chapel, 7246 Granby St., Norfolk. Family and friends will gather at the chapel prior to the service. The family has entrusted J.T. Fisher Funeral Services with the final care arrangements.
