Wesley Watkins

Wesley Lee Watkins NORFOLK - Wesley Lee Watkins, 55, of the 2200 block of Marshall Ave., passed away Nov. 29, 2009, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Norfolk, Wesley was born Dec. 4, 1953 to the late Morrell and Mary Watkins. He was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church where he faithfully served in the choir, Helping Hands Ministry, Music Ministry, Senior Ministry, Missionary Ministry, Children's Church, Beautification Ministry, formerly as a member of the Pastor's Aide and, was a former deacon of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Wesley was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Norfolk State University. For more than 20 years, Wesley was a tax preparer for H&R Block and in his spare time, enjoyed coin and stamp collecting. Wesley leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Harrell Watkins Sr. of Chesapeake, Raymond Watkins of Norfolk, and Roland Watkins of Arlington, Va.; two aunts, Lois Love of Norfolk and Evone Lovitt of Virginia Beach; a nephew; Harrell Watkins Jr. (Monica) of Woodbridge, Va.; two great- nephews, Justin and Jeremy Watkins; a host of cousins and friends. A funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 7, at noon in Queen Street Baptist Church, 413 E. Brambleton Ave., Norfolk. The Rev. Dr. Glenn Porter Sr. will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 2323 Reservoir Ave., Norfolk, one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church.
