Mortimer Dagenkolb Obituary

Mortimer Dagenkolb VIRGINIA BEACH - Retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Mortimer Dagenkolb, 92, peacefully passed away Dec. 2, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ohio, N.Y., to Sidney and Alice Dagenkolb. Following his naval career, he worked for and retired from The Stanwyck Corp. He taught Sunday school and was a lay speaker at Scott Memorial United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being an active participant in the church's food pantry where he always had a smile and uplifting word for all he met. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia. He leaves to cherish his amazing life and his memory, his son, Guy and wife Connie; his daughter, Gail Wildey and husband Bill; grandchildren, Ray and Elizabeth; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Clark and wife Ellen; brother-in-law, Gerald Mead and wife Joan; several nieces and nephews; as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-Christ at Scott Memorial. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the food pantry at Scott Memorial United Methodist Church, 409 First Colonial Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. A celebration of life service will be held at Scott Memorial United Methodist Church Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. Cremation Society of Virginia assisted the family.
