Robert Tull Obituary

Robert W. Tull CHESAPEAKE - The Rev. Robert W. Tull, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. He was born in Pocomoke City, Md., where he graduated high school in 1940. He was engaged in farming and broiler raising until 1951 when he was called into the ministry and attended Davis & Elkins College at Elkins, W.Va., and then Presbyterian Seminary at Louisville, Ky. Pastor Tull was ordained into the ministry June 10, 1956. He served in Pastorates in Newark, Del., Yuma, Colo., Independence, Mo., Vinton, Iowa, Okmulgee, Okla., Port Huron, Mich. Pastor Tull never retired from ministry having served at Glenwood Presbyterian Church in Norfolk where he preached last Sunday. Community involvement was his way of life having served on various Ministerial Associations, chaplain at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and a former Rotarian having been a past president of the Rotary Club of Okmulgee Oklahoma. For those that knew Pastor Tull, he lived a full life with an enthusiasm for the Lord that was contagious. He loved his family and woke each day seeking opportunities to serve those in need. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillie Mae Tull of 63 years of marriage; his daughter, Susan L. Nizankiewicz and her husband David and their children Lili and Lucas; his son, Robert (Robin) W. Tull Jr. and his wife Cathy and their children, Andrew, Courtnay, Philip and Victoria. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Church of the Messiah, 816 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A funeral will also be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at his childhood home church Beaver Dam Presbyterian Church near Pocomoke City, Md. Arrangements by Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Chesapeake, and Holloway Funeral Home, Pocomoke City, Md. Internment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Pocomoke City.
