James H. Roberts CHESAPEAKE - James H. "Jim" Roberts, 71, of Forest Road, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born in Monroe County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Bruce and Louella Roberts. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Gayla Roberts and eight brothers and sisters. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he was a veteran of Vietnam. He later retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was a diesel mechanic. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Eleanor Faye Deibler Roberts; two daughters, Deborah Roberts and Linda Roberts Staton; two granddaughters, Breanna and Ashleigh Staton and their father, Kevin Staton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing or visitation. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
