Herbert Lifland

Herbert L. Lifland NORFOLK - Herbert L. Lifland, 85, died Dec. 8, 2009. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Barney and Esther Israel Lifland. Mr. Lifland served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia. Mr. Lifland was a founding member of Temple Israel in Norfolk. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Paula Gellman Lifland; their daughter, Bonnie L. Rosenberg and her husband Arnie of Ashburn, Va.; son, Steven A. Lifland and his wife Roz of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Philip Rosenberg and his wife Mary of Richmond, Andrew Rosenberg of Ashburn, Va., and Ira Lifland of Greensboro; and two great- grandchildren, Emily and Jackson Rosenberg of Richmond. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Michael Panitz officiating. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
