Brooks Warner Obituary

Brooks F. Warner VIRGINIA BEACH - On Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, Brooks Frederick Warner passed away. He was born in Lexington County, South Carolina on Aug. 13, 1928. Brooks was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, June Simpson Warner; his mother, Lizzie Hayes Warner; his father, Willie Preston Warner; and his sisters, Birdie Hartley and Iva Livingston. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 26 years. He was an avid gardener and an active member at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church for 42 years. He also engaged in a wide variety of volunteer activities, including running blood drives, working at the polls, serving as church treasurer for decades, and serving on the board of directors for Luther Manor. He also loved playing bridge with his many close friends. He is survived by his sister, Eva Watson; his sister, Ann Oswald and her husband Clyde; his brother, Daniel Warner and his wife Loretta; his daughter, Elizabeth Souder and her husband David; his son, Clay Warner; and his five grandchildren, Ashley Faust, Virginia Goad and her husband Patrick, Evan, Dane and Griffin Warner; along with many other relatives and close friends. A funeral will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Brooks's name. Condolences may be offered to the family at www. hollomon-brown.com.
