Ann Porter Obituary

Ann E. Porter NEWSOMS - Fletcher Ann Edwards Porter, 79, widow of J.L. Porter Jr., died Dec. 8, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher H. and Virginia Russell Edwards, and was predeceased by two sisters, Betty E. Ricks and Dixie E. Cutchins. She was a graduate of Newsoms High School and a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Belinda P. Mason (Greg) of Franklin; her son, Bobby Louis Porter (Renea) of Newsoms; two sisters, Kaye E. Burgess (Henry) of Newsoms and Rebecca E. Hudson (John) of Christiansburg; and one brother, Harold Edwards of Tennessee. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Williams and the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Barnes United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Darden, 33701 Statesville Road, Newsoms, VA 23874. www. wrightfuneralhome.org.
