Christopher Rylke Obituary

Christopher M. Rylke VIRGINIA BEACH - Christopher M. Rylke, 74, passed away Dec. 7, 2009 in his home. A native of Poland, he was a retired timber merchant. He was the son of the late Alexander Julius and Maria Rylke and the widower of Sophia Rylke. He is survived by his sister, Janina Flakelar and her husband David; nephews, Alexander and Andrew Flakelar; and niece, Julia Flakelar. A funeral Mass will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 15, at noon at Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Steve DeLeon officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

Ray and I are extremely shocked and saddened to hear of Chris' death. We feel so blessed to have been a part of his life even if for a short time. Visions of him on the beach walking with Chico, or sitting in a chair on his patio sharing stories and laughter will remain with us always.

We were so very fortunate to have been a part of his family reunion. We saw first hand that Chris' jovial nature and open heart was second-nature, as it is shared by all the family. Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time as Chris travels home.
