Clifford Lowder Obituary

Clifford A. Lowder Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Clifford A. Lowder Jr., 81, passed away Dec. 10, 2009 in his home. He was born May 1, 1928 in Kannapolis, N.C. He retired as an electrical contractor. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the London Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Nottoway Hunt Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Colleen B. Lowder; two daughters, Cathy Rose and husband Gregory and Carol Gay and husband William; a son, Cary Lowder; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Gay and William Gay Jr.; and his beloved pet, Cody. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Colonial Grove Memorial Park with Pastor Brett Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. C. A. was always friendly whenever I called or stopped by. Remember fondly how happy he was to select his favorite meal for us to bring back from a shopping trip. He will certainly be missed but glad he's at peace. I smile when I think that Coty will join him one day, along with his family.

I've really enjoyed getting to know Cliff and especially for all the great gardening secrets he taught me.

I wish to offer my condolences to Collen and family. I've been their neighbor for 17 years and Cliff was always willing to lend me a hand and he'll be missed dearly.
