Leonard Kubilus Obituary

Leonard P. Kubilus NORFOLK - Leonard P. Kubilus, 82, of the 1000 block of Earl St., died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009. He was a native of Dickson City, Pa., and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He also worked at the U.S. Naval Safety Center for 21 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Kubilus was a Fourth Degree Honorary Member and Past Faithful Navigator of Father M.J. O'Keefe Assembly and past financial secretary and Honorary Member of Father Robert B. Kealey Council 3548 of the Knights of Columbus. He also held memberships in Fleet Reserve Association Branch 60, American Legion Post 327. He was a life member of Sampson World War II Navy Veterans Inc. of New York, associate member of Virginia Sheriffs' Institute and plank owner in the U.S. Memorial in Washington, D.C. Survivors include two sons, Leonard P. Kubilus Jr. and his wife Susan of Osceola, Mo., and Robert W. Kubilus and his wife Cheryl of Queensbury, N.Y.; three brothers, Louis W. Kubilus of Factoryville, Pa., Joseph S. Kubilus Jr. of Providence, R.I., and Richard Kubilus of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Joan Krzan of Montdale, Pa.; four loving grandchildren, Melissa Kubilus, Mandy Kubilus, Leonard P. Kubilus III and Jennifer K. Davis; and one great-granddaughter, Lorelai Davis. Leonard was predeceased by his wife Dorothy of 50 wonderful years; one brother, Eugene M. Kubilus; and three sisters, Barbara Vaiceskauskas, Delores Santarelli and Rose Marie Spychalski. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk. The funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 155 West Government Ave., Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
