Dorothy Williams Obituary

Dorothy Mae Williams PORTSMOUTH - Dorothy Mae Williams, 69, of the 500 block of Taft Drive, died Dec. 8, 2009, at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center surrounded by her loving family and friends. A native of Norfolk County, she was the widow of Jacob Williams and worked for 27 years with Portsmouth Public Schools. She was a faithful member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Judith Whitfield and Angela Fitzgerald and a special son-in-law, Vernon Fitzgerald; two sons, Walter Whitfield and Marvin Whitfield (Traci); stepchildren; one sister, Captoria Jordan; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; including a special friend, Robert Sawyer. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Reid presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., Portsmouth, will be handling the arrangements. Viewing will begin Monday at noon. The family will be at 508 Taft Drive, Portsmouth.
