Carrie Jordan Obituary

Carrie Edwards Jordan NORFOLK - Mrs. Carrie Edwards Jordan, 73, peacefully departed this life in her sleep Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Jordan was born in 1936 in Smithfield, Isle of Wright County, Virginia, the daughter of the late William Lee and Blanche Picott Edwards. She was predeceased by a brother, Steve Edwards; a sister, Virginia Edwards; and her former husband, Ervin L. Jordan Sr. Mrs. Jordan was a retired employee of several Norfolk families. She enjoyed mall walking, shopping, and visits by her children. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Patricia Benjamin of Norfolk; two sons, Prof. Ervin L. Jordan Jr. (Lorraine) of Charlottesville and the University of Virginia; and Robert E. Jordan, U.S. Army, retired, of Fairfax, Va.; her sisters, Dorothy P. Edwards and Anne B. Allen, both of Newark, N.J.; a brother, William Herbert Edwards of Norfolk; various nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A funeral will be held at noon today, Dec. 19, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. Mrs. Jordan will be interred in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
