Ronald Feuer Obituary

Ronald J. Feuer NORFOLK - Ronald J. Feuer, who has been known since 1971 as Ron Lahav, passed away in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, Nov. 30, 2009. Son of the late Julius and Frieda Feuer, the family moved to Tidewater in his early infancy. He attended public schools in Norfolk and Portsmouth and was a member of the "lost Class of 1959" at Granby High School. His B.A. was from The American University and his M.S. and specialist degrees were from Indiana University in Bloomington. He taught at what is now University of Louisiana at Lafayette and served as chairman of the department of history and political science at Talledega College in Alabama. Settling in Israel in 1971, where he Hebraicized his name to Lahav, he held the post of research coordinator at the Henrietta Szold Institute-The Israel National Institute for Research in the Behavioral Sciences. He then served as a senior civilian research officer with the department of behavioral sciences with the Israel Defense Forces. Moving to England in 1984, he owned and operated an international commercial information brokerage. Lahav is survived by his wife, the former Kathleen Southwell, and by his brother Stanley Feuer and his wife Eileen May of Midlothian, Va.; as well as family members in California, New York and Israel. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Newcastle Gosforth and Newcastle Reform Synagogue. Cremation and burial at sea took place in Newcastle, England.

Stanley, I was very sorry to hear the news about Ron. I immediately called Richmond to let Nicky know. Ron was so thoughtful to send Nicky & I condolences when dad died. My prayers are with you & your family.
