Joseph Simons Obituary

Joseph Lewis Simons NORFOLK - Joseph Lewis Simons, 68, of the 1300 block of Oakmont Place, passed Dec. 15, 2009. He was born in Chesapeake and worked in the Material Management Department at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a member of New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Crestwood Senior High School. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Ann Simons; four daughters, Yolanda Williams (Sammy), and Pamela Willis (John) of Augusta, Ga., LaTechia and Denise Simons, both of Norfolk; three brothers, Earl Simons (Lorraine) of Virginia Beach, Eural Simons (Evelyn) of Cheverly, Md., and Claude Simons (Mary) of Moreno Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild, NaJae Aviona Simons; one uncle, Albert Simms of Chesapeake; and one aunt, Evelyn Simms of Chesapeake. Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today in Monroe Funeral Home, 1701 Wilson Road, Norfolk. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon in Weeping Mary Baptist Church with the Rev. John C. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at the residence Saturday at 11 a.m. for the funeral procession. To my Dearest Aunt and cousins, my prayers are with you all. I will truly miss uncle (Joe), but I believe he is at peace now. No more suffering, no more pain. I pray that GOD will give us all peace and comfort as we let another one of God's angels go! I love you all!
