Raymond Winslow Obituary

Raymond S. Winslow SUFFOLK - Raymond Stallings Winslow, 84, passed away Dec. 17, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Suffolk, he was the son of the late Nathan Frank and Mattie Stallings Winslow and the widower of Katherine Drake Winslow. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II and a member of Oakland Christian Church, where he served as a past deacon. Mr. Winslow was a retired farmer. Survivors include his daughter, Debra Winslow Blanks and husband Kyle of Suffolk; son, Bobby Ray Winslow and wife Sharon of Suffolk; grandchildren, Tyler Blanks, Katherine Blanks, Kelsey Blanks, Nathan Winslow, Samantha Cone, and Joshua Reed; sisters, Myrtle Winslow Gardner of Carrsville, Va., Daphne Winslow Rhodes of Battleboro, N.C.; special friend, Evelyn Gregory of Franklin; and many special nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. in Oakland Christian Church by the Rev. Mark Burns with burial at Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Becky Godwin Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2008, Suffolk, VA 23432. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
